THIS IS NOT PERMISSION TO EAT FAST FOOD EVERYDAY, OR EVEN EVERY WEEK.  DON'T EVER THINK THAT FAST FOOD IS GOOD FOR YOUR WEIGHT LOSS PROGRAM.

I am a realist.  I know that sometimes despite your best intentions and planning that we are not always prepared and have to make do with what is available.  Sometimes even I have screwed up my day and have to do something immediately to quench my grumbling stomach.

So how do you eat out, maybe even fast food, without completely screwing yourself over?  Here is how: 

  • NEVER, EVER, EVER super size or upsize your meal!!!  This may not be great for their business but if you do it then you have lost all control of your portion.
  • Skip the fries.  French fries are about as bad of food as you can eat, and I say this knowing how much I LOVE french fries.  They are far too easy to over eat and get yourself in calorie trouble...
  • Eat on a budget.  I know that you are thinking that most fast food joints are already pretty affordable, but if you budget $3 instead of $6 then you will have to cut some stuff out naturally.  i assure you that you will still be full when you are done.
  • Get a full burger or sandwich and eat them first.  Although there are not the best choice in the world for weight loss you will find that you will fill up and there are a lot more nutrients in these then in fries and a soda.
  • No dessert.  I know that this goes against the grain but you got plenty of calories already.  And although you would love to indulge in more food don't do it.  Don't lose all self control.
  • Never plan on a fast food meal.  What I mean by this is to never let yourself off the hook when it comes to planning ahead.  Planning in fast food is a recipe for disaster!
If you absolutely need to indulge your fast food craving try out somewhere new, that makes there own food like Wheelers Handout in Nampa.  You will get more nutrition rich food and support a locally owned business!  Plus the food is AWESOME!!!!
