As a Trainer you are asked everyday how to give someone better abs.  I used to allow people to believe that crunches helped.  Not anymore!  We cannot choose where the fat that is burned for energy comes from.  If you want to decrease your waist size and flatten those abs the rule is as simple as possible.

Eat less calories than you burn!

To make this happen there are some good tricks to losing that weight.
  • Use your BIG muscles everyday.  Those big muscles would be your legs and they burn WAY more calories than any other muscles on your body. 
  • When a muscle is burning during exercise it is burning calories.  Technically you are feeling lactic acid which is a byproduct of burning sugar, but don't think for a second that discourage you because if your diet is on point then that sugar was metabolized from fat!
  • Track your food!  If you bite it, you must write it.  You will be AMAZED at how much you put into your body that you are unaware of, and how little of the good stuff you are putting in.  This accountability will take your nutrition to the next level.
  • Increase your metabolism with resistance training.  Do not be afraid to pick up a bigger weight than you are used to.  If your calories are on point then you will not build much muscle but you can drastically increase your fat burning.
  • And of course, EAT 6 MEALS PER DAY!  The steady flow of energy and nutrients tells you body that it is OK to let go of that hard earned fat.  If you starve yourself then your body thinks it must protect the fat, so keep the portions down in size, and track it (as seen above) to ensure that they are actually the right amount.
